Three Female Tea Party Musketeers

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Housewives and moms Lisa Feroli, Diana Evans and Suki Carder epitomize what the Tea Party Movement is all about; We The People taking back our country in whatever ways our passion and talents lead us. This dynamic trio have created and host a new political forum which they have named, “Eat and Greet”. The forums are held in a restaurant in each Central Florida congressional district. All candidates running for office in that district are invited to attend. Each candidate is given two minutes on the microphone for an opening monologue. Diana, Suki and Lisa are polite but firm. When they say two minutes, they mean two minutes.

After the introductory monologues is the “Speed Dating” segment of the forum. Every candidate goes to a table of voters to chat and address their questions. When one of the host trio announces “time to switch”, the candidate moves to a different table repeating the process.

Lisa, Suki and Diana say we voters have had our fill of politicians talking at us via long speeches. They wanted to create an interactive forum which would give voters a unique opportunity to meet and talk with candidates eye to eye. The response to the “Eat & Greet” from voters and candidates has been outstanding.

In true Conservative respect for Capitalism and appreciation for the restaurant’s hospitality, the trio encourages attendees to order something and tip well.

“Eat & Greet”, the trio’s brilliantly simple proactive idea was birthed out of the Tea Party Movement. Lisa Feroli organized the first Orlando Tea Party which was so successful she was a featured guest on the Glenn Beck national TV program.

Diana, Suki and Lisa are not CEOs, associated with any PAC (political action committee) or a corporation. They are simply concerned patriots who love their country and feel compelled to work to save it.

As the song says, God truly does use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. I say, way to go to my patriot sisters, extremely well done and I am proud of you. YOU ROCK!

Blacks, Youths and We The People At CPAC

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

I performed my “American Tea Party Anthem” and “Twenty Ten: We’re Gonna Vote Them Out” at CPAC as a representative for TeaPartyExpress.org. I was struck and excited by the high number of youths in attendance (over 50% were under 25 years old). With liberal iron fisted dictatorship regimes ruling most of America’s campuses, how did these kids survive attempts to indoctrinate them? Those with whom I chatted said they simply figured it out. Just the other day, a friend’s daughter who is a freshman in college complained about being forced to write a flowery essay about how Obama mirrors Martin Luther King. It is a shame this brilliant young lady must choose between publicly standing up for her principles or a passing grade. The youths at CPAC were extremely enthusiastic and upbeat. I suspect many are practicing stealth conservatism at college.

It was also exciting to see many fellow black conservatives at CPAC. Interestingly, every black with whom I spoke had an entrepreneurial gleam in their eyes which broadcast, “I’m grateful to be born in America and I am going for it!” I detected no hint of entitlement or victim mindsets in these blacks. They were truly refreshing.

At CPAC, I debuted my book, “Confessions of a Black Conservative: How the Left has shattered the dreams of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Black America”. I pray it will contribute to opening the eyes of my fellow blacks who have been deceived for so many years.

Most impressive at CPAC was the upbeat, excited and empowered atmosphere. With Scott Brown’s miracle win in Massachusetts and stopping the government’s take over of health care under our belts, We The People were feeling good and strutting our stuff. This was a dramatic contrast to the mood of CPAC last year. Obama had the house, the senate, and the American people under his spell. His agenda appeared unstoppable. Like the song, “What a Difference a Day Makes”, what a huge difference a year made.

To stop the wicked King Obama, We The People took to the streets with modern day pitchforks known as home-made magic marker signs. We facebooked, twittered, blogged and tweeted when needed. Across America we tea partied hardy. Amazingly, we put the progressives on the run. Celebrating our power at CPAC was so much fun.

The Tea Party Movement was the star of CPAC winning the prestigious annual Ronald Reagan award. This was the first time it was awarded to a movement rather than an individual. Thus, We The People were the stars of CPAC.

A number of CPAC attendees expressed concern that the Tea Party Movement might be hijacked by a political party. I do not believe this is possible. We The People are too savvy for that to happen. We will dance with any politician who embraces our agenda of fiscal responsibility, smaller government and national security. Be warned, we will hold their feet to the fire. Yes, we may be deceived by an occasional liberal in conservative clothing. Such characterless politicians will suffer the consequences of their betrayal at the polls.

Despite the Tea Party Movement’s incredible victorious defensive goal line stop of Obama’s agenda, some on our side still choose to be negative. They whine that both political parties are irreparably corrupt, it is all about money and power and nothing will change that. These people ridicule me for “wasting my time” traveling on the Tea Party Express tours and trying to make a difference. These sad sacks view our situation so hopelessly I almost feel it is my civic duty to refer them to their local suicide hot-line.

To my dear gloom and doomers, I offer a famous quote, “the only thing needed for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing”.

As acknowledged at CPAC, We The People via the Tea Party Movement are a powerful force for positive change in America. Just as nothing in life, the Tea Party Movement is not perfect. But, it is one heck of a great start.

At CPAC, I saw an army of young, brilliant and enthusiastic conservatives waiting in the wings for their opportunities to fight. I met proud grateful black Americans who did not drink the Obama Kool Aid eagerly pursuing their dreams. Our conservative future, as the song says, “looks so bright we have to wear shades”. So let us bask in our successes and continue to make the weak links strong. Together, we can do this. Together and with a smile from God, we will restore America!

Below is Lloyd’s Commentary regarding leadership and control of the Tea Party Movement.

Tea Party Movement Untamed

It appears everyone and his brother is seeking to categorize, direct and control the incredible increasing powerful phenomenon known as the Tea Party Movement. Some say it is doomed to fail because it does not have a single charismatic leader. Some say taking a stand on social issues such as abortion is death to the movement. Stick to the Constitution is their mantra. Some fret, what about the in-fighting and groups splintering off to form new groups? Ticket prices sparked controversy at the first Tea Party Convention. Some believe the movement should forever remain grassroots. Some say the GOP is hijacking the movement. Some say we should not pick candidates. Some say it is silly not to pick candidates.

During CNN and BBC radio interviews, I was confronted as a black conservative with, “And what about those racist signs at the Tea Parties?”

Yes, the feelings, thoughts and opinions of Tea Party patriots are all over the place. What a mess! Well, I say how wonderful! I mean, think about it. Millions of Americans who have been passively watching our country slipping away for years are suddenly passionately seeking to restore it. So, frankly, I do not care that the movement is a bit wild and free. Scott Brown’s shocking historic win in Massachusetts confirms that we are making a huge difference.

To those who caution, stay away from social issues, I disagree. I see the Tea Party movement as being about passion, taking a stand and forcing politicians to listen to we the people. If your conscience and heart drives you to politically fight for the rights of the unborn and allowing God back into the public square, go for it! But, do not war against other patriots who do not share your passion. Focus your energy toward the opposition.

As for the movement needing a single charismatic leader, if or when it does, a leader will emerge.

Reporters love to jump on the issue of in-fighting within the movement. Well, this is going to happen wherever there are human beings. Every movement has opposing strategists, egos, hot heads and plain old bad apples. The Black Panthers broke away from MLK because they thought his non violent civil rights movement was too wimpy.

Jesus’ movement only had twelve guys. While they believed in and rallied around Jesus, they all had different ideas about how to get things done. John was about love, Peter was a hot head, Paul thought he was the smartest guy in the room and Judas was a bad apple. The Tea Party movement has millions of patriots. It is impossible to control them. Nor do I want to. Amidst the so called tea party chaos, we stopped government controlled health care, elected Scott Brown and deaf to the will of the people politicians are running scared.

While I have not seen a racist sign at a tea party, apparently a few have been seen. As I stated, every movement has a few bad apples. I have attended over one hundred tea parties around the country and traveling on Tea Party Express tours I & II. 99.9% of the attendees could not care less about Obama’s race. They are decent hard working citizens who love their country and disagree with the direction President Obama is taking us. Attempting to simply write them off as “angry whites” is extremely divisive and a supreme display of a lack of character.

It is impossible for the Tea Party movement to remain totally grassroots. Things move forward or backwards. Nothing in life stays the same. The rallies were great, “we’re mad as hell and we’re not gonna take it anymore”, support group events. The logical next step was to organize to do something about our concerns. Thus, I do not have a problem with the movement progressing to the next level.

I also love the charge that the republicans are hijacking the movement. If the republicans are finally listening to the people and embracing our issues which are fiscal responsibility, less government intrusion and a strong national defense, I say, Hallelujah! But listen up republicans, you can not just talk the talk. You must walk the walk!

For those who are stressed because this high spirited bucking bronco movement refuses to be tamed, chill out. It’s all good. Sometimes, I believe, you just gotta let go and let God.

There is one seduction I strongly advise against, a third party. It would ensure liberals winning elections. However, if the republicans select a liberal turkey to run, we tea party patriots must select a conservative eagle to run against both party’s liberals. Now, that’s the power of we the people.

So, go forth my fellow patriots. Keep collectively and individually doing whatever your passions and skills lead you to do to Take Back America!

CONFESSIONS OF A BLACK CONSERVATIVE

Patriotism Cooling – Dissing America

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

I struggled with whether or not to discuss this topic. Our Haitian neighbors are suffering tremendously. I am extremely proud and thank God that we, America, were first on the scene, doing what we always do: come to the rescue of people in need. I questioned, “Lloyd, are you making much ado about nothing?” Well, you be the judge.

I am confident that Indianapolis Colts football player Pierre Garçon meant no disrespect to the USA when he waved the Haitian flag after the Colts’ victory over the Jets in the AFC championship game. However, I must confess that it rubbed me the wrong way. Please, this is not a rebuke of the young, excited athlete. He simply wanted to give hope and a shout-out to his homeland. I only wish Garçon had waved both flags: the Haitian flag and Old Glory.

Frankly, I feel that taking pride in being an American simply is not what it used to be. In his 1989 farewell speech, President Ronald Reagan expressed his concern that the kind of patriotism we grew up with was fading away. I call it “patriotism cooling.” Reagan said that parents were questioning the necessity to teach their children about the greatness of America and the sacrifices which were made for the freedom and liberty we enjoy. Garçon not even thinking to wave the U.S. flag is testimony of the “patriotism cooling” Reagan saw coming.

Unlike “global warming,” “patriotism cooling” is real and extremely dangerous. In our schools, national pride is considered biased, ignorant, and rude. How dare we think of America as exceptional?! Our kids are no longer taught the incredible sacrifice our boys at Normandy made for freedom. I recently read that educators are pushing a new curriculum which would eliminate much of America’s early history. The more ignorant our kids are of the value, the struggle, the uniqueness, and the price of freedom, the more passive they are when freedoms are systematically taken away. And yet, our schools are teaching songs about Barack Hussein Obama, mmm…mmm…mmm.

Patriotism cooling did not happen overnight. Incrementally, à la death by a thousand cuts, America has been dissed by television, Hollywood, schools, Democrats, the left, and most outrageously, even the President of the United States. Democrat Congressman Jack Murtha accused our military of rape and murder. Democrat Senator Dick Durbin accused the America’s treatment of GITMO detainees as being equal to the Nazis’ death camps, the Soviet gulags, and the genocidal campaigns of Pol Pot. President Obama accused the U.S. of arrogance. He chastised us for consuming too much and settings our thermostats too high. Obama travels the world bowing to foreign leaders and apologizing for our country.

Unquestionably, the Left’s constant bashing has instilled in some Americans a negative perception of their country. Actor Danny Glover even blamed, believe it or not, the earthquake in Haiti on the U.S. I received the following e-mail from a grandmother who agrees. She wrote, “…we are the ones who are killing the world with our own destructive ways. It just goes to show you we have to change the way we live.” Hogwash!

Truth be told, America is the greatest, most generous, and most compassionate nation on the planet.

Private citizens gave an estimated $240.92 billion to aid the victims of hurricane Katrina.

The U.S. has donated billions to Haiti over the years. Thousands of missionary organizations have been attempting to help Haiti for years. Haiti earthquake relief contributions from the U.S. far exceed the contributions of all other countries combined.

A byproduct of the Tea Party movement is a resurgence of patriotism. While I am encouraged and grateful, we still have a long way to go. Our children must be taught American exceptionalism. They must be educated about the cost of freedom, which is extremely precious, fragile, and unique to most of the world.

Americans must stop allowing themselves to be intimidated by the left. Under threat of taking it out on their kids via a lower grade, parents were forced to watch the Al Gore propaganda global warming movie. Gore’s film is another “cut” to our country. It contributes to the left’s orchestrated, anti-patriotic, “we’re the world’s bad guys” agenda.

My friends, Lady Liberty deserves much better. Please, stand up for America. Teach your children. I’ve penned a Haiti relief song titled “Haiti Relief is Who We Are.” Sadly, it is unique because it praises America rather than bashes her. My song celebrates the generosity and greatness of America. It is unfortunate that for these reasons, the song will be considered controversial. Nevertheless, I join with Ronald Reagan in seeing America as it truly is: “a shining city on a hill.” I pray you will do the same.

Ego, Obama’s Achilles’ Heel

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

The Bible says, “I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree” (Psalms 37:35). A classic scenario is evil appearing to be all powerful only to be defeated. Wow, what an accurate description of the collapsing Obama administration.

The Obama regime had all the power, the White House, a majority in the House and the Senate. Team Obama owns the liberal media. Because the media selected him, they have a vested interest in protecting his presidency. Obama also had the American people in his corner; youths considered him a rock star, blacks saw Obama as their Great Black Hope and naïve whites thought casting their vote for a black guy would finally put an end to them being called racist.

Our master of deception president accuses republicans of standing in the way of his government run health care plan. While in reality, the republicans do not have enough votes to stop any item on Obama’s unprecedented far left radical agenda. Obama believed he could silence all descent from “we the people” by playing the race card. Yes, Obama, the all powerful, seemed unstoppable. Who could have ever predicted that the weight of Obama’s own arrogance would trigger his demise? Ego is Obama’s Achilles’ heel.

Almost from day one, Obama began usurping unconstitutional power; nationalizing banks and the auto industry. While deceitfully preaching unity, Obama was like the guy in cowboy movies who stands on the steps of the jail house. He masterfully works the crowd into a frenzy and demands that they drag out the accused prisoner and hang him. This is what Obama did to corporate executives, CEOs and anyone who opposed his agenda. It is not unfair to suggest that the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) thugs who beat up a black conservative at a town hall meeting were inspired by Obama’s orders for his supporters to attack his opposition by “hitting back harder”. Obama’s posse.

In President Obama, I see a bully. During his State of the Union Address, Obama used his, pardon the pun, “bully pulpit” to bully the free market, banks, insurance companies, republicans and even the supreme court. Obama governs the Chicago way; no compromise, simply destroy your opponent. “Mr Thug Goes to Washington” would be the perfect title of a movie about his reign.

Leadership emanates from the top down. Mary Kay of MK Cosmetics said, “The speed of the leader is the speed of the gang”. Obama’s number one and two enforcers, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi equal, if not surpass, his unbelievable arrogance. At town hall meetings across America, “we the people” passionately said “no” to government run health care. As an exclamation point to our national, “no”, 1.7 million protesters showed up in Washington DC. Unbelievably, the Reid/Pelosi tag team are still conniving and scheming to force Obama Care down our throats. Remarkably arrogant.

While the Obama regime appeared powerful, unstoppable and spreading “like a green bay tree”, a change was happening across America. Americans were awakening from their Night of the Living Dead Obama zombie trance. His speeches were no longer heard as the voice of a messiah.

Republican Scott Brown’s shocking win in Massachusetts confirmed that Obama’s spell had been broken. Even after Obama’s emergency visit, the Senate seat owned by democrats for almost half a century was lost; a devastating affirmation of Obama’s declining power.

But who is responsible for the fall of the “chosen one”? Not the republicans. While the Tea Party movement has played an extremely vital role, Obama’s biggest problem has been his arrogance and his ego. Contemptuously, Obama believes he can use America’s ignorance of history and the facts, his presumed superior intellect and amazing oratorical skills to ignore the Constitution and the will of the American people. Obama arrogantly remains relentless in his quest to implement his rejected overreaching agenda.

I have received gloom and doom emails saying, “Lloyd, you tea party folks are just wasting your time. Our government is corrupt and nothing will change it”. My response, “So, your solution is we sit on our hands and do nothing. Thanks for sharing”.

Despite our big bad president’s continued huffing and puffing and threats to blow America’s house down, his power is rapidly declining. This is why when confronting evil, one should never give up. Keep moving forward, fighting the good fight and doing what makes sense and feels right to do. You never know what tomorrow may bring. In politics, as in life, things can change on a dime.

A month ago, freedom and liberty were on life support. Obama’s government run health care, cap and trade and the rest of his socialistic agenda appeared to be unstoppable “done deals”.

Today, Obama’s promise to “fundamentally transform America” appears to be down for the count. This makes me feel like singing, “The sun will come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there’ll be sun…”

Black History Month Should Be About Black History

Monday, February 1st, 2010

I’ve often said jokingly that Black History Month should more accurately be called “white people and America suck” month. Rather than focusing on all of black history, every February the liberal media and most democrats gleefully bring up all of America’s past sins. Fine. I mean after all, it is a part of history. But what is so wrong is these race exploiters imply that current race relations in America have not come very far from the days of blacks being lynched. Thus, Black History Month in reality is the liberal democrat’s annual fund raiser and promo campaign for more entitlement programs.

American blacks have achieved amazing things under extraordinary circumstances; most of which could not have happened without the assistance of good decent God fearing whites. But we never hear about these white “good guys”.

At age 12, George Washington Carver witnessed the hanging and burning of a fellow black male by the KKK. Carver never forgot it. As a young man, a white family saw Carver’s potential and encouraged him to apply to attend a white college. In 1890 Carver was accepted at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. Due to Carver’s character and brilliance in art, music and science, he won the respect of the faculty and his fellow students. A white teacher suggested Carver focus his career toward horticulture. Carver followed her advice. The teacher introduced Carver to her father who was a doctor. With the doctor’s endorsement, Carver became the first and only black student at Iowa Agricultural College in Ames, Iowa. Again, Carver was extremely active and popular. A new white student objected to Carver eating in the dining hall. The new student was shocked when all the students rejected him and rallied around Carver.

This incident confirms my belief. Yes, there are evil knuckleheads in the world. But when you do the right things, decent people will rally around you. George Washington Carver went on to become a great humanitarian and a world renowned scientist. Carver’s achievements were extraordinary.

As a child, Carver had witnessed the worst behavior by whites, the murder and desecration of a human being by the KKK. And yet, as an adult the generosity, kindness and encouragement of whites enabled Carver to bring his amazing discoveries to the world.

During slavery it was illegal to teach blacks to read. And yet, whites did educate blacks because they knew it was the right thing to do. The Civil War was fought and the Republican party was founded with the liberation of blacks as a major issue.

Every Black History Month we are bombarded with specials showcasing white America’s history of persecuting blacks while totally ignoring the history of white blood, sweat and tears shed for blacks. It appears that all black achievement was made in spite of and without any help from racist white America.

As long as race exploitation is a profitable industry, America will never be allowed “off the hook”. Outrageously, the Obama administration called the same white majority who elected him racist for rejecting his government run health care plan. Race exploiters will never retire the Race Card. Race profiteers say, “Ah, it’s my favorite time of the year, Black History Month. Time to convince America that they owe us and hit them up for more freebies!”

I would love to see a more fair and balanced celebration of Black History Month. Make it more focused on black achievements and less about victim-hood-ism. Kids need to learn more about hard working self reliant blacks such as Booker T. Washington who in 1881 founded the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Washington encouraged blacks to be entrepreneurs.

Before the 1920′s, Madame C. J. Walker started out as a poor little black girl, orphaned, abused, and uneducated early on in life. Walker started her own business of manufacturing hair goods and preparations and became a millionaire. Her motto was only one-self can help themselves to get where they want to be. “…if I have accomplished anything in life it is because I have been willing to work hard.” said Walker.

With Walker becoming a millionaire at a time when America truly was racist and sexist, how can modern day blacks justify having a victim and entitlement mindset.

In fairness, Carver, Washington and Walker are featured during Black History Month in classrooms and the media. But it is not mentioned that the success of these outstanding Americans is testimony of the greatness of our country. I am simply saying Black History Month should not be used for extortion, an occasion to portray white America as villains and to lay a “guilt trip” on them.
