For several years, I sang my original, “Celebrate America” at monthly U.S. Immigration Citizenship Ceremonies in Maryland. I took great pride in the knowledge that mine was the first song the approximate 1000 applicants heard as new American citizens after taking their long dreamed of, oath of allegiance. Each ceremony was an emotional event of great celebration.

It was not unusual to see very old applicants in wheel chairs, proudly and tearfully taking the oath; their raised right hand supported by a grandchild, son or daughter. Obviously, becoming an American was a great honor to them. Unfortunately, such love and passion for our country seems the stuff of days gone by. To many, it is considered hoky, redneck, un-global minded (gag me) and even offensive to love your country. It simply isn’t sophisticated to be waving the flag all over the place. We patriots are those simple minded folks who “cling to God and guns” as Obama described us during his presidential campaign.

Liberalism has contributed greatly to the decline of patriotism. The hostile takeover of our schools by Liberalism has indoctrinated many of our kids to hate their country. They are encouraged to sing the praises of Barack Hussein Obama, but not God and country.

Years ago, a dear white friend told me her son, who was in middle school, came home in tears feeling guilty for the horrible things his white ancestors and our founding fathers did to “Native Americans”. This poor kid was taught a laundry list of evils perpetuated by his race and America. Today, my friend’s son is a 22 year old Marxist who passionately hates Capitalism and America. Thank you, public school system.

The Tea Party Movement has sparked a resurgence of patriotism. The movement, itself was birthed out of fear of the far left agenda and radical changes being implemented by the Obama administration. Despite attempts by the liberal media and the Obama gang to convince us otherwise, we see and feel the threat of destruction of the traditions, values and institutions which we hold dear and have made America great.

The realization of Obama’s threat to our country is a blessing. Many of us have taken America, our Great Lady, for granted far too long; never telling her how pretty she is, how much we love her or how much we appreciate everything she does for us. And when is the last time you gave America flowers? America, we love you and don’t want to lose you.

In response to my article proclaiming that I am an American rather than a hyphenated African American, I received the following letter. Talk about having “the right stuff”, the author and his dad are great Americans. This letter reflects the kind of patriotism I long to see again on a massive scale.

“Letter from an Unhyphenated American‏. Sir, I very much enjoy your articles in American Thinker and I can relate to the unhyphenated American moniker.  My father is a Holocaust survivor, Catholic from Poland.  He escaped to this country, joined the US Navy and earned his citizenship.  As a first-generation American, I can tell you that I cannot speak Polish…my father insisted that we learn only English because America saved him from the Nazis and the Soviets.  He married a Californian of Irish and Mexican decent and served in the Navy and the Navy reserves for over 30 years.  I am now into my 16^th year in the United States Air Force.

I appreciate your story of overcoming adversity and your unabashed love of this country.  I just wanted to drop a line of encouragement for you activities in the Tea Party movement and urge you to continue to be a voice of common sense and reason in these uncertain times.”

Folks, you can feel the gratitude, love and respect these men have for their country. The father in this letter “gets it”. He knows what it means to live under tyranny and appreciates the great and rare wonderful gift we enjoy as Americans called freedom. He epitomizes the type of immigrant Lady Liberty and the American people embraces with open arms. He feels as the lyric in Lee Greenwood’s classic song, “…proud to be an American”.

Sunday (10-25-09) I begin traveling across America on the Tea Party Express II tour. While these rallies are where we encourage patriots to stay strong and work to restore our freedom, liberty and culture, they are love letters and flowers to America. A knock came to my front door. It was a small built average height white guy in his late thirties early forties dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt. “Excuse me sir, I need work. I have seven  kids and a wife to feed.” Kenny proceeded to tell me in his thick southern accent about his many skills; construction, lawn care, tile, mechanics and more. Due to down turns in the economy, Kenny was having great difficulty keeping steady employment.

As I am admittedly technically and mechanically challenged, I put Kenny to work. Upon discovering that I was a black man married to a white woman, Kenny looked surprised; not judgmental or disapproving, just surprised. Kenny did a meticulous job tiling a floor at our Arts Center. He poured the concrete for our patio; very professional, meticulously done. Kenny likes to listen to country music on his radio while he works. When Kenny was working on my patio, he asked if it offended me and offered to turn it off. I said, no problem, enjoy yourself.

When Kenny was working on our air conditioner, we chatted a bit. Through my typical probing questions, I learned that Kenny had a difficult childhood. His dad was a alcoholic. He himself has also had problems with alcohol in the past. Kenny’s wife is ill, suspected Cancer. They have a combined family of seven kids from previous marriages. So, Kenny has a lot on his plate.

I am struck by this simple man’s positive attitude, character and pride in everything he does. Kenny told me he has forgiven his dad and moved on. When hit with bad news about his wife’s medical condition, Kenny’s response blew me away. He said, Sometimes “laufe” (life) challenges you and you just have to deal with.” I thought, Wow!

I’ve grown to have the utmost respect for Kenny. Rather than whining, he literally knocked on doors seeking work. He is a man of his word. He takes great pride in his work and always goes the extra mile. He loves his kids and his wife. They are a happy family. My wife Mary and I are growing close to them. Though I do not require it, Kenny insists on addressing me as sir. Some would call Kenny a redneck, country music, southern drawl and many times shirtless. I call Kenny a friend.

Dear Rush,

We are so very sorry about what the scruple-less liberal bias conservative hating media have done and are continuing to do to you. While we realize you are a big boy and can handle it, you are still a human being. This international personal attack on your character based on such absurd charges has to be extremely painful.

We, your 20 million plus loyal fans are outraged. You have our total support.

Rush you have made us a family. For 20 years you have given us and continue to give us comfort, hope and peace when things have looked their darkest. Together, we have overcome and survived numerous challenges over the years. I still remember the joy I felt hearing your voice again upon your return to the airways after going through rehab. Again your critics gleefully thought they had destroyed you. But they don’t get it. Rush Limbaugh is bigger than Rush Limbaugh.

Not only do you have talent on loan from God, like the Blues Brothers, you are on a mission from God. It is impossible for the godless Left to comprehend that no man can bring you down. When God decides you have fulfilled His purpose, (everyone on the planet agrees with you) (smile), He will let you rest. Until then, you are His guy and our guy. So hang in there my brother. They did it to Rush Limbaugh. Who will be next? I am sure Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and others on the Left are struggling to contain their overwhelming feelings of glee and power. They did it! Their campaign of lies and slander portraying Rush Limbaugh as a racist achieved its goal. Rush was dropped from a team bidding to purchase an NFL football team.

Rush’s dismissal is a victory for political correctness, despicable reporting and high tech lynching. No need to fact check racist accusations against Rush, although a few researchers have pursued and failed to find the alleged racist statements. When it comes to Conservatives, the Left hangs them simply because they are Conservative.

The Limbaugh Incident has surely emboldened the Left to heighten their attacks on Conservatives. I wholeheartedly support Rush’s decision to pursue legal measures to punish his slanderers . “The only thing needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”, Edmond Burke.

In the movie Pale Rider, a powerful bully using his many thug enforcers was attempting to steal land owned by humble prospectors. When Clint Eastwood, the pale rider came to town, he gave the prospectors courage to fight for their land. But Eastwood warned them, “Some of you are going to die”. And there lies the rub, to live in tyranny or risk all fighting for freedom.

Folks, we face a similar dilemma in America today. The Left killed Rush’s dream of owning an NFL team. A liberal media lynch mob drug Rush’s dream out into the public square and hung it by the neck until it was dead while the likes of Sharpton and Jackson laughed and cheered celebrating their victory.

Like the prospectors in the movie, if we do not fight for our freedom, we deserve to continue suffering under the tyrannous rule of political correctness. The Left keep beatin’ up patriots on our side and getting away with it; Clarence Thomas, Sarah Palin, Carrie Prejean and many others. Our latest causality is Rush Limbaugh. I say, “Enough!”

We Conservatives realize this attack on Limbaugh is really an attack on us all. It is time we draw a line in the sand. We must not “go gentle into that good night”. Our side has brilliant minds and logical thinkers. By nature, we Conservatives do the right thing even when it is difficult, rather than making cowardly liberal choices based on feelings. It’s called having a back bone and true compassion.

So, I ask you. How can we fight back? Do we need a Pale Rider Clint Eastwood type to lead the way? I think we have one. His name is Rush Limbaugh.

While the liberal media found Rush guilty of racism without evidence, his real crime is being a Conservative. I am a black man inspired by Rush to verbally confront liberals, “Do you feel lucky today, punk…well, do ya?”

I have been a faithful Rush Limbaugh radio show listener for almost 20 years. I have never heard Rush make one racist comment. As a matter of fact, I am a black man who has been inspired and encouraged by Rush on numerous occasions. Rush is part of a partnership bidding to purchase an NFL football team. I am highly offended watching the liberal media’s all out assault on this great American. In their efforts to block Rush from ownership of a team, the liberal media and the Left are attempting to brand Rush as a racist.

The media’s charges of racism against Rush are totally based on supposed “racist quotes” which cannot be documented and comments knowingly taken out of context from his radio show. As a member of Rush’s weekly 20 million listening audience, I take the assault on him personally. If Rush is a racist, then isn’t it logical to assume that we, his listeners, are equally guilty for tolerating his racism? Obviously, Rush’s accusers have never listened to his radio show or else have an agenda. It is truly disheartening and infuriating to witness the media’s frenzied character assassination of Rush built on falsehoods and hearsay without one shred of evidence. Knowing the truth about Rush, how can I possibly trust any reporting by the mainstream media?

Adding insult to injury, Rev. Al Sharpton, considered to be a respected spokesperson for the black community by the liberal media has weighed in with his opposition to Rush being allowed to own a team. Given Sharpton’s role in the Tawana Brawley scam, it is truly amazing that he is considered a credible representative of the black community… talk about Bizarro World. How dare this characterless con man pass judgment on Rush!

Beyond Rush, the larger issue is the tyrannous yoke political correctness has on our society and the swift punishment delivered with an iron fist by its enforcers, the liberal biased media. Rush’s true crime is boldly speaking the truth about several of the liberal media’s sacred cows, challenging their premises and opposing their far left agenda.

For example, the NAACP, a sacred cow of the Left, is without question a liberal partisan organization. Rush, a white guy, stated this truth out loud, thus violating rule number one on the media’s politically correct list of do’s and don’ts. “Whites under no circumstances are permitted to publicly criticize blacks.” Offenders are verbally flogged within an inch of their lives and branded with a virtual “R” on their forehead for racist.

The liberal media has no problem with throwing Rush’s 20 million listeners along with Rush under their “you’re a racist” bus. They are relentless in protecting their sacred cows and are willing to sacrifice and impugn all. Take their sacred cow ObamaCare, outrageously, the liberal media calls the over 50% of Americans who oppose it racists. When their married president Bill Clinton had sex with an intern, the liberal media told us that every man in America, fathers, clergy, coaches and whomever would behave as Clinton did if given the opportunity. To defend Clinton, the liberal media sacrificed the morals and character of all men. In essence proclaiming, “All men are dogs”.

Remember what the liberal media did to a young beauty pageant contestant who shyly gave a politically incorrect response when asked about gay marriage, another of their sacred cows? Miss California, Carrie Perjean was vilified.

While I stand beside my hero, Rush Limbaugh, as I stated earlier there is a much larger issue at stake extremely threatening to our freedom, liberty and culture. We cannot trust the mainstream media. We are at war; liberal media’s and the Left’s Political Correctness versus the Freedom and Free Speech of the America people. Our enemy’s mission is to silence all dissent. We serfs must worship their sacred cows or suffer the consequences.

The liberal media and the Left have been attempting to silence Rush and other conservatives for years. Make no mistake about it, their latest bogus “Rush is a racist” campaign is another stealth attack on our freedom of speech. It is extremely important that lovers of freedom rally around Rush Limbaugh. Silencing Rush would be a major victory in their quest to silence and control us all.

Lloyd Marcus is a black conservative activist, national spokesperson, entertainer and singer/songwriter of the “American Tea Party Anthem”. Marcus announced publicly at a tea party that he will not refer to himself as an African American. “In this current climate of heighten racial tensions, rejecting hyphenating and simply calling myself an American is a step in the right direction towards my goal of uniting all Americans” says Marcus.

Marcus is internationally known for his columns, music recordings and participation performing on political tours including the hugely successful Tea Party Express tour.

Marcus says he is not alone in his opposition to Americans hyphenating. It began in March 2009 at a Tea Party in Orlando Florida. Before performing his original song, “American Tea Party Anthem”, Marcus addressed the audience. “I am NOT an African American. I am Lloyd Marcus…AMERICAN!” To Marcus’ surprise, the audience of 6,000 erupted with applause.

Marcus experienced the same overwhelmingly positive and supportive response from audiences at 34 rallies across America while traveling on the Tea Party Express tour. “Many came to me with tears in their eyes saying, Thank you! I can’t tell you how much what you said means to me.” says Marcus. Americans told Marcus that while they have no problem with people honoring their ethnic heritage, we should all be Americans first. These patriots feel hyphenating divides us.

Marcus recalls a heartwarming incident at a tea party. An Asian gentlemen with his wife and four kids approached Marcus. Responding to Marcus’ earlier comment, in broken English he said, “Me no Asian-American, me AMERICAN!” Then, he and Marcus embraced.

Another reason for ending hyphenating is hopefully it will reinforce the pride, honor and privilege of being an American. Over the years, secular progressives have taught in our schools that American patriotism is arrogant, unsophisticated and insulting to the rest of the world. Meanwhile, it is acceptable for other nations to hold their homeland in the highest regards.

The revelation that most Americans do not like hyphenating confirms to Marcus that Americans have been manipulated by political correctness, accepting things we do not want.

Marcus’ campaign to end hyphenating is not one of condemnation. “I highly respect and celebrate freedom for which many brave have suffered and died. All who wish to continue hyphenating have a right to do so and will not receive judgment from me. I simple will not hyphenate. I believe most of my fellow Americans will follow.”

A reporter tried to pull me into it, “What do you think about this tea party organization not liking that tea party organization?” I said disagreements are inevitable because human beings are involved. Everyone has their opinion regarding the best direction of the movement.

Back in the beginning after the April 15^th round of tea parties, a patriot emailed me frustrated over the direction of his local group. They wanted to focus on national issues. He believed they should start with local politics. While I agree “all politics are local”, this grassroots movement was founded and is fueled by passion. Things work best when each patriot simply follows their own passion. If fighting to restore America on the national level hits your hot button, go for it! If local floats your boat, you are a perfect candidate for School Board. Our movement needs patriots on both fronts.

God gives us “grace” individually to achieve His purpose for our lives. Thus, someone may ask your help and support for a worthy cause. You write them a check, but have no real passion to join their cause. When God gives you grace for a cause, you commit to it wholeheartedly.

The beauty of the Tea Party movement is that it has no one personality or group leading the charge. The movement is concerned American patriots driven by their instincts, awareness and love for their country; all following their passion and using their skills to help out in whatever way they can to restore America. It is republicans, democrats, independents and Obama voters all saying, “Wait a minute, this is not the change we wanted or voted for. Enough!”

So yes, there is going to be in-fighting and differences of opinions on the best direction of the Tea Party Movement. The movement itself will decide which way it will go. The bottom line is millions of Americans agree that the Obama administration is aggressively pushing Americans and taking our country down the wrong road. Despite our differences, we patriots are united in our commitment to restore our Freedoms, Liberty and Culture.

The term “racist” in America is synonymous with white. According to the liberal media elites (New York Times writers, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN), Hollywood (Jeanine Garafolo and associates) and the Obama administration, white America is automatically guilty of being racist. The burden is on whites to prove their innocence. It is wrong that decent white people always find themselves on the defensive in regards to race relations.

No one dares to mention, rebuke or even consider the possibility of minority racism. And yet, when Obama received 96% of the black vote with many thinking Sarah Palin was his Vice President, it is safe to concluded most blacks voted skin color over principles; which is racism.

Jesse Jackson said blacks cannot be racist because they are not in power. This is hog wash, liberal intellectual “double speak” and another typical liberal attempt to relieve blacks of any responsibility for wrongdoing. Such so-called black leaders have the audacity to complain about black-on-black crime and the epidemic of black males dropping out of school. Black liberal enablers cannot relieve black males of personal responsibility for their behavior, blaming everything on whitey, and expect the lives of these youths to change for the better.

Like every other sin, a measure of racism will always exist. But we cannot continue allowing minority racism to go unchecked and expect us to ever truly become united as Americans.

Is God back? While watching the Glenn Beck program, three women, yes I said three, boldly proclaimed their Christianity and how their decision to follow Christ has affected their politics. Other than religious programs, people do not talk about their faith on TV without being portrayed as fanatics or nut cases. It was truly refreshing. Could this mean God is back from exile from the public square?

Another Beck show guest was a black man, Charles V. Payne, founder, CEO and Chief Analyst of Wall Street Strategies. Payne shared his moving tale of growing up in a poor inner city neighborhood. He said his fellow black students beat him up daily for “speaking too white”, getting good grades and daring to have a dream of becoming a businessman. “The kids were not simply jealous of me, they were extremely hostile” said Payne. He attributes the black students’ negative attitudes to a victim and entitlement mindset instilled in them by liberals.

I thought to myself, “Wow!” Black people do not come on TV and tell the truth about the negative effects liberalism has had on the black community. Nor, does anyone hold blacks accountable. Blacks are victims. Every and any problem they could possibly have is the fault of rich, racist, conservative, white Republicans. I mean, everybody knows that!

And then there is the hyphenated American thing. I have shared with you that while I was performing on the Tea Party Express Tour, I opened the rallies by saying, “I am not an African American. I am Lloyd Marcus….AMERICAN!” The audience erupted with applause at all 34 rallies. This hyphenated American thing is like the fairy tale, The Emperor’s New Clothes. It appears most Americans dislike hyphenating. However, enslaved by political correctness and a desire to appear enlightened, sensitive and educated, everyone simply went along with the program.

Con artists convinced the Emperor that the invisible fabric they used for his new attire was so special only the most enlightened could see it. At the public unveiling, the Emperor proudly paraded down the streets in his new outfit while supplicants applauded it’s great beauty. Then a little boy yelled, “Mom look, the Emperor is NAKED!” Suddenly everyone, including the Emperor, was forced to acknowledge the truth. Like the little boy in the story who spoke the truth, my public rejection of hyphenating is liberating Americans across America. I am inundated with letters of thanks and support.

Something unexpected and wonderful is happening across America folks. The Tea Party Movement has awakened a powerful sleeping giant silent majority. Americans are starting to say, “no” to political correctness; “no” to banning God from the public square, “no” to politicians who ignore the Will of the people, “no” to secular progressives and “no” to dead beats who think they are entitled due to their skin color, sex, economic status or whatever. “Enough!” is the battle cry of millions of Tea Party protesters.

While the main focus of the Tea Party Movement is a rebuke of outrageous government overreaching and out of control spending, the movement has embolden patriots to stand up for the traditions, institutions and values which have made America great. Thus, their slogan, “Take Back America!” It is truly amazing to witness.

With kids having to walk through metal detectors to enter their schools, fatherless black male students dropping out at epidemic rates, kids brutally physically assaulted by other kids on schools buses, and middle schools having to install Day Care centers to accommodate the large numbers of children having children, perhaps the libs will allow prayer back in schools.

Nah… that will never happen. According to the Left, letting God back in schools would really screw up our kids!
